Mala joined Central Bank of India in the year 1973 and worked in various capacities until her retirement in 2015. Out of 42 years of service, she has worked for 35 years as a Law Officer in various fields of Banking. Through her immense hands-on experience, she has serviced a wide range of clientele in the banking sector from various jurisdictions.
During her tenure at the Central Bank of India, she handled variety of legal matters relating to banking operations and acquired experience in the following areas:
Attending Court (Small Causes, City Civil and High Court) and Debt Recovery Tribunal (DRT); Interaction with panel Advocates/ solicitors in all legal matters affecting the bank.
Approval of Plaints / Writs; Vetting Legal Documents for the Bank in all matters, including consortium documents.
Cases involving Rent disputes against the bank premises filed by the landlords under the Maharashtra Rent Control Act.
Handling all matters relating to Banking Ombudsman for Bank as a whole.
Matters under Right to Information Act 2005, up to the level of Central Public Information Officer /Appellate Authority / Central Information Commission.
Mala also imparts training on topics relating to Securitisation under SARFAESI Act, Recovery proceedings under DRT and Lok Adalat, Loan Documentation, Operational issues with Banks.
